In the realm of security and safety, particularly when engaging with heads of security or chiefs of police from various sectors, I'm often asked why our team is so passionately dedicated to what we do. The answer for me lies in our profound sense of purpose. At the heart of our commitment is the knowledge that we empower organizations with transformative capabilities, enabling them to respond swiftly to incidents, providing safety everywhere for their communities, and fostering a safe work environment that instills confidence in every individual. The impact of SafeZone is unmistakable, and while some leaders outside of Healthcare, Government and Higher Education may not currently recognize the need for transformation, it's clear to me that they cannot ignore it for long. The stagnation in security and safety offerings, reliance on reactive functions, outdated siloed and fixed technology, expensive human assets, and services misaligned with organizational goals are becoming apparent. A single mishandled incident can tarnish a business's brand irreparably. Leaders who resist change may find themselves unprepared when confronted with a crisis or, perhaps, retire without facing the need for transformation. However, the tide is shifting, and as new generations seek to modernize, we stand ready to support those transformative leaders when their time inevitably comes. After all, in the ever-evolving landscape of security, change is not just inevitable—it's the only constant!International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators National Association for Healthcare Security Julian Spencer Jas S. Amid the rising number of incidents within schools, the need to have a threat assessment team has become more critical than ever. The goal of a threat assessment is not only to identify potential attackers but also to address the underlying issues that may lead to violent behavior. By taking a proactive approach to school safety and identifying potential threats early on, we can create a safer and more secure learning environment for students and staff. Join SEC Founder & CEO, Jason Russell, as he joins a panel of speakers on Tuesday, June 6th entitled, “Building Safer Schools.”This is an excellent discussion for educators, pyschologists, law enforcement personnel & administrators.Register here:https://lnkd.in/g3v2ssym #schoolsafety #schools #team #educators #school #safety #learning

🚨Public Safety & Emergency Management will notify students, faculty and staff during ongoing threats and emergencies using Emergency Notification Service and Crime Alerts. What’s the difference? 1️⃣ A Crime Alert communicates a serious, unresolved crime committed on or near campus that presents a threat to the community. Subscribe to these alerts: https://lnkd.in/e5Js2CAX2️⃣ An ENS Alert communicates timely and actionable info during an emergency or threat to subscribers via e-mail and opt-in text/voice notifications. https://lnkd.in/e5Js2CAXENS Alerts will also be posted on official Pitt social media accounts, but the first and most comprehensive place to find information is emergency.pitt.edu

Public Safety Software News:Round Rock Independent School District Police Department Deploys Oracle Public Safety Suite to Enhance Incident Response Capabilities Round Rock Independent School District Police Department is using Oracle's Public Safety Suite to improve information access and communications across the 55 school campuses and over 47,000 students it supports. Previously, the department relied on contracted county dispatch services that did not meet its needs for real-time communication across the 110-square mile school district. With Oracle's modern suite of purpose-built public safety hardware and software, the department now has the tools it needs to support its goal of creating a safe and equitable environment where the students have the greatest opportunity to reach their full potential. As a new district-dedicated agency, the department wanted to completely rethink its approach to technology to create a more agile, responsive system that would support better data access and action by creating a seamless flow of information between dispatchers, officers, and decision makers. After a comprehensive review of options, Oracle was selected for providing a comprehensive suite of hardware and software that could meet these objectives."Oracle is leading the way with new technologies and capabilities in an industry that has been stagnant in its innovation and processes for far too long," said Dennis Weiner, chief of police, Round Rock Independent School District Police Department. "We found the Oracle Public Safety technology suite to be the most robust solution for school safety and for law enforcement efficiency and effectiveness. As an early adopter, we have had the opportunity to work closely with Oracle to provide feedback that will not only benefit us, but other departments. This suite is a paradigm shift in how information flows more effectively through police departments when every second counts." I had the honor of presenting to Arlington Heights School District 25 Staff today about a concern that is unfortunately on the rise – school swatting. For those unfamiliar, swatting involves making hoax calls to emergency services in an attempt to bring about a large number of armed police officers or a SWAT team to a particular address, often under false pretenses of a critical situation. Schools have increasingly become targets for such actions, causing unnecessary panic and disruption.During my presentation, I emphasized:The importance of understanding and recognizing potential signs of swatting attempts.Proactive measures schools can take to verify the legitimacy of threats and to liaise with local law enforcement agencies. The psychological and financial repercussions on students, staff, and emergency services, and the community at large.Strategies for educating students about the dangers and consequences of participating in or encouraging swatting incidents.I am deeply thankful for the engaged and thoughtful audience of educators, administrators, and support staff who attended. Our collaborative approach will undoubtedly make a difference as we work together to keep our school environments safe.Thank you to the district for prioritizing this conversation. I believe that with awareness and proactive measures, we can mitigate these threats and ensure the security of our students and staff. If anyone is interested in learning more or would like resources on this topic, please reach out. Let's collaborate and create a safer future for our educational institutions.#SchoolSafety #SwattingAwareness #EducationMatters #Collaboration

I wanted to share some information with you about school safety, and how SHI can help.As you may know, safety is a top priority for schools across the country. To help create a safer learning environment, many administrators and law enforcement agencies are turning to advanced technology solutions. These solutions range from access control integration and video surveillance to emergency communication systems and threat assessment tools. The federal government and some state governments are also providing funding opportunities to help organizations pay for school safety solutions. One such example is the School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) grant. This grant, administered by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), provides funding to improve security at schools and on school grounds. So, if you're an educator or administrator, I encourage you to take a look at the SVPP grant and consider investing in technology solutions that can truly make a difference in protecting students and staff. You can learn more about the grant and its impact in this insightful article from Linda Heiss, Theo Meek and Reece HartlePlease reach out if you would like to be connected with the SHI Public Sector team.#SchoolSafety #Education #GrantFunding #TechnologySolutions #WeAreSHI #SolveWhatsNext
